Team Day

This past week was Sports week at Daycare. On Friday, they were supposed to wear their favorite team. Well, I think this is just the cutest picture! Go Meredith and Go State! (if you know my son at all, you know that he LOVES NC State. When he saw that Emma Lou was wearing a non-NC State shirt, he was upset. I told him that the shirt was from Meredith and that is where I went to College. He said that he didn't like Meredith. I told him, "Good...you can't go there anyway :)". Oh, how I have feeling that one day he will like Meredith girls!).

Splash Park Fun

I had heard about a splash park in Oxford and thought I would take the children the other day. It was hot, but I didn't want to get wet in the pool. This place was great. It was $1.00 per child and they could have played for 6 hours. Other parents had coolers and had brought lunch. There was a wonderful shelter with picnic tables so I was nice and "cool" in the shade.

Durham Bulls

Every summer the Kiwanis Club goes to see the Durham Bulls play baseball. This year we decided to take James. It was nice...it would have been better if it hadn't been 100 degrees! Hopefully we can go back next summer before it gets so HOT!

Move-Live on Tour

While I was home after my foot surgery, I saw an advertisement for "Move-Live on Tour". This is a production by Julianne and Derick Hough (the dancers siblings from Dancing with the Stars). Well, since I was just laying there with my cell phone...I BOUGHT TICKETS...on the 4TH ROW!!!! I can't remember being so excited for something in a long time. I gave Yancey the opportunity to not go...I was sure I could find a friend to go with me. He ended up going with me. I had the BEST time. I just kept thinking..."I see these folks on TV".

Fun at the Beach

We have had several opportunities to spend time at the beach this summer. We are blessed to have two places to visit. In James' mind they are in two completely different locations (yet just about 5 minutes apart). My folks have a place on the sound and Yancey's family has a house on the ocean. We got to go the my parents new pool. The children loved this. It really helped them with their confidence in the pool. We had fun fishing, eating Popsicles, watching movies in Ms. Susan's movie room, and playing with cousins!

10 Year Meredith Reunion

In May I went to Raleigh for my 10 Year College reunion. I was concerned to go because I don't quite look the way I did in college. Thankfully, I decided to go. I had the best time. We had meetings during the day, then a wonderful class dinner downtown Raleigh, and then our group stopped by Krispy Kreme. Thanks to Facebook, I feel like I have seen these girls all the time and know whats going on in their lives. I am so blessed to know so many wonderful ladies and to have had a such a wonderful college experience.

Relay for Life

This year Relay for Life was special for me. My cousin died almost 2 years ago from brain cancer and then my Papa died recently from Lung Cancer. We supported our Daycare by buying Hope T-shirts from them and then we purchased a luminary to remember my family.

Fun Times

James and Emma Lou have grown so much lately. Emma Lou had her first trip to the Dentist and did great! The dentist office they go to has a mini movie theater, surf boards you can ride, video games, and tons of toys. They also offer free coffee/tea to the parents. Who wouldn't love to go there! James played tee ball with my cousins one afternoon at my grandmothers. That was the first time he had ever used a bat! He did so good. I love the picture of the two of them in the hall having a picnic (with a baby). They set this all up and then told me to come look. These are the sweet moments that I hope I will never forget!

Clerk of Court for Granville County

Yancey decided a few months ago to run for Clerk of Court. Well after 3 months of intense campaigning, he WON! We are so very excited. Because only three democrats ran in the primary election, we don't have to run against anyone in November. He will be sworn in the beginning of December. I think James is ready to help campaign again. He loved getting to help hope the signs on Saturday mornings or pass out cards for his dad. Who knows...maybe he will run for something one day!
