We had a visit from a turtle

This morning, Yancey was outside watering the grass. He came inside to let me know that we had a turtle in the front yard. I was thinking something small, but thought James might like to see it anyway. I was wrong, it was a huge snapping turtle. I think I was more amazed than James!

Happy 4th of July

For the 4th of July, our friends Whitney and Steve had us over for a cookout. John, Melissa, and their son Parker were there as well. The boys have so much fun playing together. I am so glad that they have each other (and that the grown ups have each other!). There was so much great food and such wonderful company. I made patriotic cupcakes that were pretty good :). I never would have thought we would have such great friends when we moved to Oxford. I am so glad that I was wrong, because we have been blessed with the best! As always, we tried getting a picture of all the boys...yea, that worked better when they couldn't move!

Pool time with the DeCillis Family

Last weekend we had the pleasure of going to the pool with our friends Steve, Whitney, and Matthew. They go to a different pool in down than we do, so it was a nice change. The biggest difference in the two pools, is theirs has a huge water slide and a "beach like" entry. Although I thought James would love the easy way to walk into the pool, he didn't. In fact, he hated all the water "toys" that the other children loved. Yancey found some steps that reminded James of our pool. Once he got in the water that way, he was much happier. Amazingly he pointed to the big slide and acted like he wanted to go down. He was fine until he and Yancey sat down to slide, and then he cried the whole way down. All in all, it was a great day of fun at the pool.
